Split PDF

Cut one PDF into several smaller ones: every page on its own, a fixed number of pages per file, or exactly the ranges you type.

  • Runs in your browser
  • No sign-up
  • Nothing uploaded

How to use the Split PDF

  1. Add a PDF. A small picture of every page appears, numbered.
  2. Choose how to split: single pages, every few pages, or ranges you type (for example 1-3, 4-6, 7-).
  3. Press "Split PDF".
  4. Download the parts: several PDFs come together in one ZIP file.

Splitting is useful when a scanner put many documents into one file, when a long report must be sent in parts that fit an email limit, or when each page of a statement belongs to a different person.

Ranges are typed the way you would say them: "1-3" is pages 1 to 3, "5" is page 5 alone, "7-" runs from page 7 to the end. Each range becomes its own PDF, and a page may appear in more than one range. Every part is named after your file and its pages, such as report-pages-1-3.pdf.

Each part is a new PDF with copies of the original pages, at the original quality. To keep just a few pages in one file, Extract PDF Pages is the quicker tool.

Good to know

  • PDFs up to 50 MB each. Very large files need a lot of memory; a computer handles them best.
  • Password-protected or restricted PDFs are not opened here: unlock them first with Unlock PDF if you know the password.
  • Bookmarks and form fields are not copied into the parts.

Your files are processed on your own device. They are not uploaded to File Perks or anyone else. Read the Privacy Policy.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened, changed and saved by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to File Perks or anyone else, so confidential documents stay with you.

How do I split a PDF into single pages?

Choose "Single pages" and press "Split PDF". You get one PDF per page, together in a ZIP file.

How do I type page ranges?

Separate ranges with commas: 1-3, 4-6, 7-. A missing end ("7-") means up to the last page; a single number is one page.

Why do I get a ZIP file?

Several files download more reliably as one ZIP. Open it (double-click on a computer, or the Files app on a phone) to find the PDFs. A split that makes only one PDF downloads that PDF directly.

Does splitting change the pages?

No. The pages are copied as they are, with the same text, pictures and quality.
