How to use the Social Media Resizer
- Add one or more images.
- Pick the platform and the size, for example Instagram "Portrait post (4:5)" or YouTube "Video thumbnail".
- Choose "Fill" to crop the image to the shape, or "Fit" to keep all of it on a background colour.
- Press "Resize" and download. Several images download together as a ZIP.
Each platform crops images that do not match its shape, often cutting off heads or text. Resizing here first means you decide what is kept. "Fill" keeps the centre of the image; use the Image Cropper first if the subject is near an edge.
The sizes come from a current 2026 guide to each platform's recommended dimensions; platforms change them from time to time, and we update the list when they do.

Good to know
- Sizes are the platforms' recommended pixel dimensions; a platform may still compress the image after upload.
- "Fill" keeps the centre; it does not detect faces or subjects.
- Enlarging a small image to a big size (for example a YouTube banner) cannot add detail.

Frequently asked questions
Which Instagram size should I use?
Portrait 4:5 (1080 × 1350) fills the most space in the feed. The profile grid now shows posts at 3:4 (1080 × 1440), so use that size when the grid view matters most. Stories and Reels covers are 1080 × 1920.
What is the difference between Fill and Fit?
"Fill" covers the whole size and trims what sticks out, so nothing is empty. "Fit" keeps your entire image and fills the leftover space with the background colour you choose.
Can I resize many images at once?
Yes, up to 20 images to the same size, downloaded together as a ZIP.
