How to use the Favicon Generator
- Add a square image or an SVG logo (at least 512 × 512 pixels works best for raster images).
- Choose how it fits: "Fit" keeps the whole image, "Fill" crops it to a square. Add padding or a background colour if you like.
- Press "Create favicons" and check the previews.
- Download the ZIP, copy the files to your website's root folder, and paste the code shown into your page's <head>.
The favicon.ico contains 16, 32 and 48 pixel images stored as PNG, which every current browser and Windows reads. The pack also has 180 px (Apple touch icon), 192 px and 512 px PNGs, and a site.webmanifest for Android and installable web apps. If you start from an SVG, a cleaned copy is included as favicon.svg.

- A ZIP with favicon.ico, PNG icons, an Apple touch icon and site.webmanifest

Good to know
- Very detailed images become unreadable at 16 pixels. A simple, bold logo works best.
- The Apple touch icon gets the background colour you choose (white by default), because iOS fills transparent icon areas with black.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I put the files?
In the root folder of your website, so that /favicon.ico opens in a browser. Then paste the code shown after creation into the
of your pages.Do I still need favicon.ico?
Browsers prefer the PNG or SVG icons in your HTML, but some tools and older software still request /favicon.ico directly, so it is included.
What size should my image be?
Square, and at least 512 × 512 pixels, or an SVG. Smaller images still work but look soft in the larger icons.
Why does my favicon not change?
Browsers keep favicons for a long time. Open the site in a private window, or clear the browser cache, to see the new one.
